Capri Trekking Tour
The most beautiful island in the Mediterranean, already admired by the Ancient Romans, Capri is since two centuries a popular resort for European artists, writers and celebrities; it is a must for all visitors.
We arrive a Capri ether by ferrybout or hydrofoil. From the harbour, Marina Grande, we take the funicular to the celebrated "Piazzetta" and have a tour of the ancient village centre around the little church Santa Maria delle Grazie.
We then continue our tour on one of the most impressive and panoramic footpaths, Via Tragara, passing beside the most famous and luxury Capri hotels towards the Faraglioni, the landmark rocks that reach out to the blue sea in front of the Villa built by the late writer Curzio Malaparte.
The tour leads then in a gentle climb through a wonderful Mediterranean Sea Pine forest, along the rocky coast, offering unforgettable panoramic views, ending at the Matermania Cave, an impressive natural vault, used by the ancient Romans as a luxury Nymphaeum. The path continues to climb until the "Natural Arch", the surviving part of a great vault, that resembles the body and the head of an elephant.
After a well deserved rest, the tour continues towards Villa Jovis, from where the Emperor Tiberius commanded the destiny of the Roman Empire from 27 to 37 D.C. After the visit of Villa Jovis we descend back to the Piazzetta.
